Satisfaction….

I just delivered my design collection for the Fashion Show, that has been delayed and modified because of Covid-19.

I am questioning myself and also other people who decide I am not an artist.  ( How dare they can tell me why I am not ?!)

” What is wrong if I satisfying my design? ”
I am always love my designs when I completed.

I am a creator, and I design and create things what I satisfy my sketch image to actual  product.

There is no rule, because rule I make for my creations.

So I can stop when I want and I can go over when I need. There is no right answer, until I get my creation complete in my mind…

But, I love collaborations, that make the other creator feed into my designs their perspective.

I love that. Sometime that is different from mine, but that is OK, because that also other creator initiate their creative view.

I don’t want to interrupt for their opinions, but  what I don’t like is they don’t have any opinions their creations…

Then I may stop collaborating with those people…

 

But when I serve the client, that is different approach.

Because, my job is make the client satisfied. So I talk and make sure

if the client is happy about what I have done.

That is completely different satisfactions.

Always client is initiate their preference.

That is Tocofashion’s approach.

Sewing…

When I learned sewing in School for the first time in later primary school year in Japan,

I used a ” Ashibumi- Mishin ” – “Foot step operated sewing machine” at school.

I believe it was Singer foot pedal sewing machine like the picture above. (  Pic from Pinterst )

I need to feed the leather belt to operate,

Then put both foot but right foot slightly forward than left then turn the Stop motion turn away from you and Balance Wheel turn toward to you while first step is going,

otherwise, feed going backword…

It was great fun, when you can sew smoothly, and you don’t want to stop it at all!!

But you really needed to practice first to get going for pedalling and threading ! 🙂

 

I got newsletter from Japan House in London the interesting article about knitted fabric history in Japan.

And I saw the image of Meiji period kimono ladies are sewing rather elegant way! ( Pic below )

So I remembered my first sewing was when I was making doll clothes with my little fingers

sewing dress with yellow cotton fabric with thread and needles,

and I think I put 3 big green buttons with sticky tapes in front for my finishing touch 🙂

And I send it to my Grandma with letter to Tokyo, and she was the Kimono dressed lady because of her occupation as well,

She was a tea ceremony master of Urasen-ke style.

She replied to me, ” You are so great in hand work, you should try to be a fashion designer! ”

So I tried 🙂

The Greatest Designers….

Hi,

I will be showing my collection earlier next year in Edinburgh!
So I am starting preparation…

Recently, I realised I have to create something constantly to be natural myself but don’t love so called fashion world, difficult to express myself in natural way somehow….

I was reading Kansai Yamamoto’s story, Rei Kawakubo’s quote,,,,both are the world greatest Japanese fashion designers!!

They just made me think I don’t need to be in the fashion world that I don’t fit, I can create fashion world on my own…

When things are not going smooths, it is great to hear some advice from your admires!! 🙂

Man in Space Suits!

Last night, after smooth launch and boosters landed on target, Space X Dragon capsule name Endeavour docked with ISS on time!!!

View from ISS Hatch door open to preparing Ben and Douglas to come in….for 3 and half hours…

Finally Endeavour door is open and both can see!!

Ben and Douglas are going to stay for 4 months with other crew of ISS….

This was totally started private commercial mission to international mission.

Elon Musk’s Space X started 2002, when Virgin Galactic’s blue origin went to Space was phenomenon.
Every challenge is the risk, but Space X challenge is always bring the dream comes true!!

This time Elon was saying really wanted Astronaut to be admired from the next generation.

He asked Space suits to be made from the Hollywood Super hero’s costume designer.

Fantastic looking helmets and much lighter suits for the Astronauts to relax on the space travel…. 🙂

Working from home….

Hi,

Since end of last year, I have some chance to work lots of new things,

including assistant school catering ( dinner lady ), school cleaning, and wardrobe assistant…

I enjoyed working but cleaning stopped, it wasn’t for me…

But I enjoyed intense of cleaning for 2 hours tasks…

So I am challenging myself, and start doing at home.

Great exercise and great way to keep monitoring the virus!!

And, I still working telephone/face to face ( currently not ) Japanese interpreting.

Of course I am working as a designer in my life as in my DNA, that is not stopping anyway!!

Fashion industy in Winter ( Wintour ? )….
Selling constantly your products/services is the good business.
Seems like the World of Fashion industry is not doing well apart from China….
I get invited for going market in China…
Luxury items sale sky high in China and expecting more in the future…
But if your market cycle forcusing on lust than consiquences,
Once people’s trend changes, where the quantity going???
Yes, that is why I don’t go that market.
Create-> re-design-> re-shape->re-trim-> re-style✌️
I love my creations, I don’t throw them away, I re-create or
re-design to make new style.
And I will keep creating along with other artists!
While I can.
Hoping people care as much I do, too.
 
Anna Wintour is strongly saying, people need to re-consider shopping habit. Listen to Anne…. 🙂

Rugby….because it was so inspiring…

Team gave us a fantastic hope!!

Talked with people who watched Japan x Scotland match, even people who don’t know much about the rules of rugby,

Couldn’t get tired of watching. It was just fantastic match…

I was watching the program months ago…
He formed stronger team 4 years ago, now Japanese team was one of the quater finalist!!
It was fantastic documentary about how Eddy Jones gave strong motivation…I thought we could see Eddy as English coach fight against Japanese team….but I am sure Japanese team will be back!!

I was talking with my mum and sister same time while watching Japan x South Africa today.

South Africa was so strong…
Japan team tried so hard but clearly South African member had quite better tactic after half time…

Rugby made so much hope to Japan!! Hooray!!!

Gave me strength, too : )

Item important in the story…

Just I started reading ” L’Amant ” by Marguerite Duras again…
Book has been translated in Japanese.

In the story, I couldn’t ignore,,, she is talking about ” Hat ” is very

significant in her memory.

” I got a hat, there is no farewell with it. That can re-create myself….
I have a pair of shoes, I felt the same to those, but my hat is far more special….”

I just translated in my way from Japanese translation to English… but Sometime, I feel hat has exactly same way for my style.

I hope I can serve those special hat to the clients all the time.

Just thinking about what I have been doing for my whole life, and looking at the photo from 20 years ago,,,
Perhaps not much different what I have been doing…
Does it mean I am same all myself??
I don’t think so, because, what I am trying to do is much better than yesterday.

When I was in 20’s I was much braver and much agile than now, but I had much limited view than now…

What I am trying to say is I am constantly enjoying and creating new things for such a long time. Perhaps I have never been well known, but my imagination and passion are big enough to express my creativity in public for such a long time.
I am progressing slowly in my pace…

Summertime is switched to Wintertime,
means day is getting shorter and shorter…

Wintertime we need to motivate yourself!!

I just realized how serious it is seeing the location of Scotland.
I was so shocked when I see this map related where I was born and where I am now.

Edinburgh is 55 degree. London is 51 degree. Tokyo is 35 degree that is similar latitude to LA, Malta, Morocco…

So we need some entertainment for yourself.

Things we haven’t done for a long time…

Finally managed to see ” Incredible 2 ”

They never disappoint us!
Quality of the graphic is amazing…Their hair’s detail is unreal!!

Again, Designer ” Edna Mode ” is making us very entertaining!!

Oh, I wish I could make myself such strong character s her!!

I so recommend for any age for this film!! Such entertainment for Friday night!
