My first Burns night

We have been invited to formal Burns night for the first time.

Since our son started Air cadets, it is a privilege to attend such an event.

My son had dress code to wear white long sleeve shirt and black bow tie with cadet’s trousers.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to wear.  I was preparing royal blue dress with matching colour of hair piece.

Once I was doing my hair a bit retro style, I felt much adventurous than before…so I put my magenta pink Guinea fowl feather cocktail hat on which matches with my belt.

I thought plane dress and black cardigan isn’t bright enough.

When I arrived the venue I felt over dressed…eventually, I wear nothing on my head…

Me and Haggis served traditional way. neeps ,tatties and whiskey sauce.

I just enjoyed formal atmosphere, fantastic poem recitals, haggis and dance experience! Truly fantastic experience!!

Now I know what I expect! Yes, dance! Scottish dance routine is simple and complicated same time!! Once you start, you can not stop!!

Oh, yes, I remember now, once we went Oban for Mahogany, whole town of Fort William was doing street dance. We were almost floating in the air round and round for up and down on the street all night!

It is like Awa (Region of Tokushima prefecture) dance, when I was in Koenji in Tokyo, I couldn’t stand to watch, I had to join the Ren (group). It is very hard dance, but you have to join to enjoy real time.

My shoes are comfortable enough to dance.

If you dear to plan for Burns night, it is very important tip to wear comfortable shoes!

Collaboration

I used to design and make dresses and outfit.

Then, beginning to much more designing hats for higher percentage!

As a milliner I used to show my own collection along with my own designed and made outfits.

As a milliner ,I used to do collaborate with fashion designer.

I love designing my own inspirations, but with collaboration, it is something miracle happens.

I love collaborating with other creators.

I am working on projects for the photo shooting. I got story from photographer. It was amazing.

All the images beginning to visualised in my head, put on to the paper, then non stop!!

Always happening. when something new are born.

Bespoke size fitting

DSC_0021

Leather hat is very cool!! But unlikely fitting may not suits for you.

I have been asked to alter his leather hat to keep him warm and comfortable.

So I made pattern to fit the lining for this hat.

DSC_0022

This is the inside. Good and strong. but where you put the head is rigid and may not feel as comfortable should be.

DSC_0025

100% wool flannel and satin on other side, to keep the size I added grosgrain tape.

First put this lining in the hat….You can use head to keep the fitting nice.

Then make sure fit nice on the hat….

DSC_0027

Once it fits great, use the fabric glue carefully on the grosgrain tape.

Then put in the stretcher!!  Result is keep the head warm and comfortable, but nice airy space for the top!! Great!!  For enquiry contact Tocofashion!!

Stretcher is great tool. Fabric thickness added a centimetre. But stretcher will keep the size back.

Exhibition

Autumn Exhibition in Japan.

Currently exhibiting in Japan without me!

I got some pictures through friend’s relation.

It is very strange feeling seeing my hats are exhibiting without my attendance and all done by Gallery and support by Flower arrangement artist Mr. Hagiya.

Other creates have different view. I am enjoying differences! Same time I learnt I should point out how to show

clearly.

Documents for custom declare…

Oh, so many documentation and cutting and gluing I have done today!!

I was ordering to collect my parcel to send to Japan, then realised I had to prepare 4 documents each for boxes….

I will send 2 boxes to Japan. Each box is needing 4 documents for custom declare.

The documents are needing every detail of what items description, quantity, value.

DSC_2276

I have already put the price list ready earlier.

But because of the contents, I had to cut and paste manually…..

They will be dumped eventually … I think.

DSC_2277

I managed to put 67 items in 2 boxes neatly!!

Whole afternoon spent, boxes are ready to collect tomorrow!! I am just praying they will be reaching destination safely for the exhibition.

Oh, no! No space to put myself in!! I wish I can fly with them to JAPAN!!

Preparing a small exhibition in Japan

I know it sounds big, but I have been asked to do an exhibition before moving to Scotland.

Since then, I couldn’t find a way how to do this but the gallery convinced me this time.

I have been preparing for months and months, but still I am rushing away at the last minute…

Because, I start making things, changing my mind, and changing the style…

That always happens when I create something…

I have decided to do an elegant line as my theme!

silk and wool mix quality beret is very elegant looking and warm.
