運転の練習。　Driving in Scotland

だいたい、25歳ぐらいから運転を始めた。東京にいる頃は、運転免許証は必要なかったので、

留学を決めてから仕事をやめて、まずは運転免許証をとってから、留学をすることに。

I've started driving since 25 years old. When I was in Tokyo, I didn't need to have driver's license.

When I decided to study in London, I stopped working in Tokyo and went back my home town.

First of all, I started getting driving lesson to get the license.

晴れて、夏休み中プラスぐらいで免許証を取れてから、親の知り合いから安く譲ってもらった、マニュアルの

トヨタカローラを運転する事に。運転が楽しくて、色々なところに行くが、助手席に乗ってもらう人はたまらないよね。

そんなのは気にもせずに運転を楽しみ、一応念のために国際免許を持ってイギリス留学にいたったが、

その頃は、運転する機会もなかった。

After a month or two, I got the driver's license. My parents aquantance sold reasonable manual gear Toyota Corrola.

I was enjoying driving anywhere, but sitting passenger's seat wasn't comfortable, I guess.

I brought my International driver's license with me to study in UK.

But I didn't have chance to drive that time, yet.

主人と知り合い、一緒になる頃には、保険にも入れてもらったので、ロンドンゾーン1枠より外なら、結構どこまでも

運転できるようになり、2,3列のラウンドアバウトも、マニュアルの車にも、ガソリン入れるのも、

縦列駐車も立体駐車場も結構慣れたものになったが、日本にまた引っ越すことになり、もちろん運転環境は変わるもの。

When I start going out with my husband, he got me the car insurance. So I started driving his car anywhere  except  Zone 1 in London.

I could drive dual lane round-about, manual gear and top up the tank, parking on the tight sideway, multi-storey car park etc. but we were moving to Japan.

今度は、オートマで、冬道、山道などなれない所があり、冬の凍結、雪山の運転なども練習するうちに、結構なれるものだ。

今度は、イギリスに戻ってきたので、ロンドンで運転していたものだから、結構大丈夫だろうなどと思っていたが、

マニュアルは、慣れるまで時間がかかる事忘れていた。しかも、ラウンドアバウトって、自分の右だけに集中していればいいと

思っていたのに、こちらでは、左も気にしていないと、とんでもない事になる。もう少し、大きな道まで出るのは無理そうだ。

In Japan, Automatic , very nice Kei ( little but powerful ) Car is available for reasonable price. But where we were needed extra caution for winter driving.

Frozen surface, black sheet of ice, for the winter activity had to go up the snowy mountain. Graduately used to drivie such a condition.

And so on, we came back to UK once again. I thought it is just a revision for the driving. But takes long time for me to get used to coordinate the manual gear.

On top I have to look out for not only right hand side but left to get in to roundabout with very agressive entrance…

I was just observing, but getting less and less confidence for driving again.

などと思っているうちに、だんだん自信がなくなってきて、ちゃんと引越ししたところで、運転始めるなどと弱気になっていた。

たまたま、日曜日の昼過ぎから、息子が誕生会に誘われていたので、主人の運転で送りながら、近くのスイミングプールまで値段表を貰いに行ったときに

ずいぶん道がすいているので、これならチャンスと思って、主人に運転の練習に付き合ってもらうのを頼んでみた！

But today, Sunday afternoon, after sending my son to friend's birthday party with my husband, pop in local swiming pool to get the price list.

Seems very quiet for driving, I asked my husband to do my driving lesson. Poor my husband had a headache, but he came along and showed nice route 

to do lots of different techniques. This time we didn't go on the motorway and big roundabout, but mountain way and residential way, narrow road, windy and hilly routes.

今回は、MoterWay　は　回避して、一般道で練習。大きなラウンドあばとも無いが、山道、そして道が細くなっている住宅地で、道の譲り合いの練習、そして

サインや、スピードの確認などを一通り練習して、山道の景色の良いところまで行って、駐車の練習。

まあ、大きなミスは無いものの、ギアのコーディネーションをもっと練習する必要あり。そして、坂道発進の練習。とにかく最初のバクバクは突破してみた！！

For the effort, I managed to take my husband to a viewpoint for the treat! Of course, I have to practice gear coordination, and hill start, but I managed to drive public road in Scotland!!
