My first Burns night

We have been invited to formal Burns night for the first time.

Since our son started Air cadets, it is a privilege to attend such an event.

My son had dress code to wear white long sleeve shirt and black bow tie with cadet’s trousers.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to wear.  I was preparing royal blue dress with matching colour of hair piece.

Once I was doing my hair a bit retro style, I felt much adventurous than before…so I put my magenta pink Guinea fowl feather cocktail hat on which matches with my belt.

I thought plane dress and black cardigan isn’t bright enough.

When I arrived the venue I felt over dressed…eventually, I wear nothing on my head…

Me and Haggis served traditional way. neeps ,tatties and whiskey sauce.

I just enjoyed formal atmosphere, fantastic poem recitals, haggis and dance experience! Truly fantastic experience!!

Now I know what I expect! Yes, dance! Scottish dance routine is simple and complicated same time!! Once you start, you can not stop!!

Oh, yes, I remember now, once we went Oban for Mahogany, whole town of Fort William was doing street dance. We were almost floating in the air round and round for up and down on the street all night!

It is like Awa (Region of Tokushima prefecture) dance, when I was in Koenji in Tokyo, I couldn’t stand to watch, I had to join the Ren (group). It is very hard dance, but you have to join to enjoy real time.

My shoes are comfortable enough to dance.

If you dear to plan for Burns night, it is very important tip to wear comfortable shoes!
